Summary

Fedora and Red Hat Linux operating systems rely on the Anaconda installer to handle the installation of the operating system. Both graphical and text-based installation processes are supported, as are different installation methods (including CD, NFS, HTTP, FTP, and hard disk installs).

Linux has improved dramatically in recent years in its ability to properly probe and configure hardware during installation. In those cases where Linux cannot detect your hardware or you want to fine-tune how hardware is configured, you can pass options to the installation process from the boot prompt.
