Summary

Whether you choose to enable printing through Red Hat/Fedora Core tools or through the distribution-independent CUPS, print services under Linux are easier to administer than ever before. As long as you purchase a printer that uses an available driver, you should be able to configure the printer to handle simple print jobs. With most modern printers, you should also be able to utilize additional features such as color selection, print direction, and paper size. Though printing is still regarded as somewhat of a headache among UNIX administrators, the various tools found under Linux will ease your printing-related workload.
